Devold

Devold

For over 170 years, Devold of Norway has been producing functional, high-quality clothing and underwear from pure new wool from Norwegian sheep. Merino wool from Tasmania was then added over 100 years ago. The company was founded in 1853 by Ole Andreas Devold in Ålesund. Ole wanted to produce durable clothing that would protect the wearer during a wide variety of outdoor activities and provide the best comfort. In 1888, the first polar explorers, equipped with Devold's wool, set out into the eternal ice. The famous polar explorers Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen also wore functional clothing from the wool pioneer. To this day, the manufacturer is a trusted outfitter for polar expeditions, but is now also in high demand in the sports and leisure sector. Since 1868, the company has been headquartered in the Norwegian coastal town of Langevåg - with the best conditions for product testing. Devold shows responsibility
Devold makes a point of taking responsibility for the entire production process itself. In the company's own factory in Lithuania, around 300 employees are responsible for spinning, knitting, dyeing and sewing yarn. Regarding merino wool, Devold's "Sheep-to-Shop Concept" also enables the company to fully control the entire supply chain - from animal-friendly sheep farming in Tasmania to the production of the textiles in Lithuania. The company relies on long-term partnerships with selected farms to ensure greater transparency and better traceability. Gradually, more and more items in the range are to be produced according to the "Sheep-to-Shop Concept". Regardless of this, Devold guarantees all merino wool products to be mulesing-free. Great wool with responsibility - that's what Devold stands for! Devold quality
The core competence of the Norwegian manufacturer lies in the baselayer segment. With the different product families made of merino wool, Devold convinces alpinists and winter sports enthusiasts alike and offers clothing for various weather conditions and movement profiles. Thanks to traditional craftsmanship and high-quality merino wool, Devold impresses with soft wearing comfort, optimal moisture transport and supports temperature regulation in harsh weather.

Temperature- and moisture regulating baselayer longsleeve made from merino wool

Devold's Expedition 235 Woman Shirt is constructed as a dual layer wool underwear garment for extreme weather conditions, proven on several polar expeditions. The inner layer is made of 100 % merino wool, while the outer layer is 90 % Aquaduct treated merino wool combined with 10 % polyamide to improve durability.
