Devold
It began with fishermen and Polar explorers
For more than 160 years, the company Devold of Norway has been produced functional, high-quality clothing made from Norwegian sheep's pure new wool. Clothes made from Tasmanian merino wool are produced for more than 100 years. The company was founded in 1853 by Ole Andreas Devold in Ålesund - with the one goal in mind, to provide people with unbeatable comfort, quality and protection. Initially, mittens were made for Norwegian fishermen to facilitate their hard work under wet conditions. Hats, scarves, underwear and sweaters followed, all made from wool. In 1888, the first polar explorers were equipped with Devold's wool. Also the famous polar explorers Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen wore Devold. To date, the manufacturer is a very popular supplier for polar expeditions but now also in the sports and leisure sector. Since 1868 the company has its headquarters in the Norwegian coastal town Langevåg - including the best conditions for product tests.

Tradition successfully meets modernity
Devold looks back on a long, successful history standing for product quality and wearing comfort at the highest level. The special thing about Devold's production philosophy is the combination of traditional craftmanship with the latest technology: Devold constantly develops new and innovative functional clothing, including an attractive design - but the tradition is always preserved.

Devold shows responsibility
For Devold it's of great importance to bear responsibility for the entire production process itself. In the company-owned factory in Lithuania the spinning, knitting, coloring and sewing is done by circa 300 employees. Regarding merino wool, Devold's "sheep-to-shop concept" makes it possible to control the entire supply chain - from species-appropiate sheep farming in Tasmania to the production of textiles in Lithuania. Therefore transparency and traceability are guaranteed. Step by step, more and more products of the range will be produced according to the "sheep-to-shop concept". Regardless of this, Devold guarantees that all merino wool products are mulesing-free.
