Insulation range for children's and youth sleeping bags
We deliberately do not specify exact temperature or insulation ranges for children's and youth sleeping bags. There is no mandatory measurement standard for children's sleeping bags—such as DIN EN ISO 23537 (formerly EN 13537) for adult sleeping bags—because a child's perception of warmth cannot be tested using standardized physical metrics. Metabolism varies significantly from child to child and is even more variable in growing children than in adults.
A sleeping bag does not generate its own heat; it merely insulates the heat emitted by the body. As a rough guideline, most children's sleeping bags are suitable for temperatures starting at approximately +10°C. In cooler temperatures, the child should always be dressed appropriately for the weather, even inside the sleeping bag. Additionally, using a sleeping bag liner can be beneficial: it enhances insulation performance and is easy to clean when needed. Mummy – heat-efficient mummy shape
The tapered mummy shape is a proven design for sleeping bags. Thanks to the close-fitting cut that narrows towards the feet, there is less air volume inside the bag to heat up, making this design particularly heat-efficient. Additionally, this shape allows for low pack weight and excellent compressibility. The functional hood design and the draft collar (depending on the model) prevent cold air from entering, making the mummy sleeping bag a reliable companion in cool weather.
