Gilles Gallo and Gatien Brault together founded the company "Solar Brother". After Gilles discovered on a trip to Timbuktu that a lot of time and money is invested by local families in the search for firewood, he wanted to focus specifically on the production of solar cookers. With Gatien he found the perfect partner - Gilles has been working in the solar industry for many years and Gatien is an engineer. Together they have the goal to democratize solar technology and make it accessible for everyone.
The "Solar Brother" company has two mainstays. As the first business area, they manufacture products that are powered by solar energy. These include solar cookers and solar firelighters. These products are sustainable and "Solar Brother" sees it as its duty to inform about the possibilities of solar energy. The second pillar consists of the free distribution of plans and instructions for the production of solar devices. Thus there are open source plans (free of charge), which contain instructions for the self-construction of for example solar grills, ovens or water heaters.
