The hiking backpack (or touring backpack) is an important part of the outdoor equipment and is the "middle thing" between daypack and trekking backpack. This applies to the volume, but especially to the carrying system. Backpacks for a hike are not always larger than the so-called daypacks, but are equipped with more technical shoulder and hip straps.
