The mela wear GmbH originates from the scientific and student environment of the Leuphana University in Lüneburg, which specializes in sustainability in business management. Mela is committed to helping end unethical practices at the production site and only works with factories that are committed to sustainable and responsible textile production. Their organically produced and fair-traded production collection is produced North of Mumbai in India. All of Mela’s products carry the Fairtrade and GOTS labels, thereby promoting sustainable textile production. The Mela collection is produced exclusively from organic Fairtrade cotton and is dyed according to strict GOTS regulations.

Social and environmental responsibility
Mela strives to have a close and fair contact with their cotton farmers in India. Payments are way above the minimum wage, a good and safe working environment, medical care and personal responsibility stand for the great social commitment. The company does not use genetically modified seeds, pesticides and chemical toxins. Own water treatment plants and power from photovoltaic systems supplement the efforts for a sustainable production. The result are products that look great and help to make the world a better place.
