The idea for the Danish company Lakor was born during Lasse Kornum's student days, when he hardly ever put down his pencil and loved to create designs inspired by surfing. He signed his designs with “Lakor”, his former student log-in and a combination of his name. In 2006 the first 10 Shirts with his design were printed. Together with his best friend Jesper and Kaspar he founded the company Lakor Aps in 2009 and launched the first Lakor collection in 2011.

Since then, Lakor has continued to develop and has three stores in Denmark, organizes its own surf event, Lakor Pibe Masters, and is involved in various festivals in Denmark. This was followed by several collaborations, for example with Stanley, Skipper's Pipes, the street artist Lints and the legendary Danish cycling commentator Jørgen Leth.

Lakor's work is guided by creativity, sustainability and "Æxplore", which means the eternal curiosity to discover new things and improve on the familiar. Even today, Lakor designs are inspired by surfing, but are not intended to convey the often unattainable surfer coolness, but rather to encourage wearers to spend more time in nature and to stimulate their creativity.
