Komperdell
From the hazelnut stick to the carbon tube
A lot has changed since the company was founded in 1922: While in the 1930s the company initially manufactured hiking, walking and billiard poles from hazelnut wood, today Komperdell relies on lightweight and unbreakable carbon tubing. The small turnery in Vienna thus quickly developed into a large company that is currently one of the leading manufacturers of ski poles. In addition to working with top mountaineers as well as alpinists, Komperdell places a lot of emphasis on valuing the work of the Sherpas. These are usually indispensable for the success of an expedition, so the manufacturer equips them with the same telescopic poles that were developed for world-class athletes.

For the sake of the environment
Komperdell relies on 100 percent local production in Austria. This saves an enormous amount of Co2 on transport routes and ensures high quality products. For the production of the poles, the ski pole specialist uses exclusively recycled aluminum - this saves energy and conserves resources. The use of water-based paints also avoids harmful effects on the environment. Attention is also paid to packaging: Komperdell keeps packaging material to a minimum and if it cannot be avoided, the manufacturer uses recyclable materials.
