Helsport
On and on: The epitome of innovation of the outdoor sector Helsport was established in 1951, and through the past 60 years they have learned what it takes to make some of the best tents and sleeping bags in the world. 1951 Helliksen Sport is founded by Arild Helliksen, 1974 the name of the company changed into a corporation and was re-named Helsport AS. Until today the Scandinavian company is in family hands. And from the beginning Helsport sets a blistering pace concerning "innovation on the outdoor sector": They developed their first sleeping bags in 1954 and their first tent in 1957. 1968 Helsport created one of the world’s first lightweight tents. They launched the worlds first tunnel tent in 1970, and since then they have set several international standards in innovation. 1979 they were the first to launch a tent with large vestibule /camp solution, 1996 they created the world’s first pole cup, 2014 they presented a complete series of several of the worlds lightest tents.

A safe choice
Since 1986 Helsport has a long-lasting partnership with the Norwegian adventurer Børge Ousland, who has firmly established himself as the leading polar explorer of our time - with solo expeditions to both the South- and the North Pole as well as solo crossings of the Arctic and the Antarctic, from coast to coast. The reasons for extreme athletes like Ousland choosing Helsport are obvious: Helsport is a safe choice. The products are durable, sophisticated, high quality and tested by the best. Under the most extreme conditions imaginable as well as on ultra-lightweight expeditions.

Ethical trade
Helsport has been a member of IEH (Initiativ for Etisk Handel/Ethical Trading Initiative Norway) since 2009. They maintain long-term relationships with producers and suppliers and have a strong focus on ethical responsibilities. This consciousness is also reflected in their choice of down: Helsport strongly opposes plucking of live animals (”Live Plucking”) as a production method in the down industry. The down used in their products comes as a bi-product from the food industry. They work closely and continuously with IDFL (International Down and Feather Laboratory and Institute) to ensure this high standard.
