Giesswein
In 1954 the family business Giesswein in Austria started with the production of knitwear. And already in the 1960s and 1970s the company became the largest manufacturer of knitwear and wool felt in Austria.   20 years after the production of the first sweater Giesswein presented its first slipper made of wool felt and the success was resounding. Over 50 million pairs of slippers have been produced since then and there is no end in sight to the success story.   The basis for this success is Giesswein's in-house wool fabric production, combined with a consistent, comfort-oriented and ecologically oriented quality standard. For example, they exclusively use high-quality merino wool from cooperation partners who have been awarded the Mulesing-Free certificate.   The Giesswein Green Strategy In addition, the company distinguishes itself through the exclusive processing of materials on a natural, organic or recycled basis. As early as the 1990s, Giesswein was increasingly focusing on ecological aspects and a responsible approach to nature and the environment. In 1997, for example, a water recycling plant was integrated into textile production - it was the first textile water recycling plant in Austria.   Another Giesswein obligation is the handling of unused materials. All waste from textile production is 100 percent recycled and given a new destination. This also contributes to the responsible use of the earth's resources.   Giesswein is still a 100 percent family-owned company today. Markus and Johannes Giesswein are currently at the head of the company - the third generation of the Giesswein family to run the company. They have made it their business to use the great basic properties of wool in such a way that unique new products are created and processed in such a way that their advantages can be optimally used. For this purpose, high-quality fabrics are developed and produced in the company's own production facilities in Tyrol/Austria. Only hand-picked wool qualities, selected according to high ethical and ecological standards, are used.   Giesswein has developed into Europe's largest manufacturer of 100% virgin wool clothing.
