MPOWERD stands for Micro POWER Design.

In the "long" version, this means creating simple, portable and personal products and providing clean technology to expand possibilities and combine form and function in all products.

In 2012, MPOWERD developed Luci, the first inflatable solar light. Their vision was to make an affordable clean energy product that people could use in any situation. Since then, the vision hasn't changed too much: MPOWERD creates sustainable, affordable and thoughtfully designed products that meet the needs of many.

In addition, MPOWERD is a Benefit Corporation, a legal status granted in the US. This imposes higher requirements in terms of transparency of business figures and a regular audit of its non-profit status. MPOWERD considers itself a social enterprise that reinvests a large portion of its gross revenue to achieve sustainability, expand their reach and ensure the fulfilment of their mission.

The Give Luci programme, for example, donates lights to over 650 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and charities to provide clean energy to people who need it most. This spreads clean energy options that enable a more economical and environmentally friendly approach to everyday tasks.
