"One evening in 1996, Stefan Glowacz and Uwe Hofstädter were sitting together in a loft apartment in Löchgau: frustrated by bad climbing shoes and their manufacturers. And with the help of a few glasses of Rioja and the background music of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the idea and with it the brand RED CHILI was born.
In May 2017 RED CHILI and EDELRID merged. The strengths are bundled and synergies are used to actively develop the international climbing market. The RED CHILI brand will be further expanded with the infrastructural possibilities of EDELRID. The two brand founders of RED CHILI will continue to be responsible for brand orientation, clothing and climbing shoe development and thus share in the brand's success.
Since its foundation over 20 years ago, RED CHILI has established a strong position in the German market for climbing shoes and fashionable climbing and bouldering clothing. This standing is to be further expanded but also developed internationally. In addition, the clothing lines are offered to the specialized trade parallel. EDELRID produces and distributes climbing products in over 60 countries. The two brands are thus strategically strengthening each other and, as a unit, cover the entire hardware and softgoods range in climbing at the highest level of quality and serve the specialist trade and thus the end consumer competently and sustainably.
Together, the development of climbing shoes will be further advanced at the company's location in Isny, in keeping with the RED CHILI slogan of its founders, "Only climbers know what climbers need".
