The North Face

The North Face company was founded in 1966 by Douglas Tompkins with his own outdoor shop. His motto "never stop exploring" is still up-to-date. In 1968, Tompkins handed the business over to Kenneth Klopp, who sewed and sold the first of The North Face's own products in the back room. Today, The North Face is one of the largest and most innovative companies in the outdoor industry, with over 1,000 employees and a wide range of outdoor clothing and equipment for trekking, expeditions and leisure.
