The Cannon by Saola is a casual sneaker in a classic shape that is 100 percent vegan. The materials used, recycled plastic bottles, natural cork, algae foam and organic cotton, leave nothing to be desired in terms of sustainability. For example, algae are the fastest growing plant on earth and the ecology of the waterways is kept in balance through harvesting. The insoles can be removed and replaced with your own. This very light, versatile shoe can be worn with shorts or a suit.

Bloom™ Foam
Bloom™ Foam is a flexible foam produced from harvested algae. Algae is the fastest growing plant on earth and it is a vital component of aquatic ecosystem’s nutrient management. The algae are transformed into bio-foam and combined with an EVA compound. The biomass from algae is high in protein and has natural thermoplastic qualities. Thus, algae is a filler with polymer-like characteristics. This allows it to mimic the properties of traditional flexible foams when properly processed. By harvesting the algae, the ecology of the waterways is kept in balance, less non-renewable oil is used and GMO and pesticide-free feedstock is used.
