Finally you can test yourself immediately after a tick bite

You can use this self-diagnosis tick test to determine whether the tick that has bitten you is infected with the borrelia bacteria. This bacteria can cause Lyme disease, a serious infection that is becoming one of the major problems in Europe.

If the test is positive, it can be shown to a GP so that he can prescribe an adequate antibiotics treatment. The big advantage is that immediately a tick bite has occurred, certainty can be sought about whether treatment is necessary. Until now, you had to wait for the (possible) appearance of the red ring (Erythema migrans) before the (lengthy) treatment could be started. And that is actually too late; the infection is then already chronic.

Procedure:

When bitten by a tick, safely remove the tick within 8 hours with the Care Plus® Tick-Out tick tweezers.
Write down the date of the tick bite in the diary.
Place the tick in the sealable tube.
Add a few drops to the tick.
Finely crush the tick with the wooden pestle.
Suck up the mixture and add 2-3 drops to the test box.
Wait a maximum of 20 minutes.
The test is positive (the tick carries the borrelia bacteria) if a red line appears at the ‘T’. A red line at the ‘C’ means that the test has been successful.

Ticks
In Germany 1 out of 5 ticks are infected with the Borreliose bacteria, which causes Lyme disease. This disease, if it is not treated correctly, may cause severe symptoms in the muscles, joints, the central nervous system, and the heart. The tick injects the aforementioned bacteria whilst sucking the blood. It is therefore very important that the tick must be removed with the tick remover as quickly as possible, preferably within 8 up to 24 hours. The tick remover prevents the tick becoming irritated or that a part of the tick remains behind. About 10% of the bites of ticks cause an infection of the Lyme disease. If you have removed the tick with a tick remover within 24 hours, the risk of getting an infection becomes minimal.
