The perfect shelter for those who favor a tarp's gossamer weight, but don't want to sacrifice the comfort of walls and a floor. The Rajd's interior is comfortably big enough for two, and is a veritable palace for the solo traveler. The Rajd can be pitched with trekking poles, branches, regular tent poles (which are available optional), or guy lines for ultimate simplicity and flexibility. The Hillebergs answer to all weight savers’ requirements! This single layer shelter only weighs 950g! The Rajd gives full protection from mosquitos and rain. Delivered without poles. You can use pieces of wood, trekking poles or a Hilleberg Rajd pole set sold separately. The Rajd in the main image is pitched with the pole set. Because of the ultra light nature of this shelter the manufacturer does not recommend the Rajd for extreme environments due to its limited wind handling capabilities and the condensation issues related with single layer shelters.
- Material outer tent: Kerlon 1200, 30D Rip-Stop Nylon, 100 % polyamide with triple silicone coating on both sides
- Weight: 1,100g
The outer tent’s fabric is crucial to keeping the elements out. Perhaps the most obvious, specific difference lies in the tear strengths of the outer tents. Kerlon 1200 has a minimum tear strength of 12 kg/26.5 lbs. And it has a high UV resistance. The abrasion resistance is high as well. Many of the tent fabrics on the market – including those labeled “expedition grade” – have tear strengths of 2 kg/4.4 lbs to 3 kg/6.6 lbs. Thus, Kerlon 1200 is four to six times stronger than most other tent materials and amazingly light in weight 50g/m².
